Bridging finance FAQ
What is bridging finance?
Bridging finance is a loan against a future lump-sum payout, such as a pension or provident fund payout. It provides funds to help manage expenses while you wait for the payout, and you repay it once, when your payout lands.
Who qualifies for bridging finance?
People with a confirmed lump-sum payout pending of at least R30 000, such as a pension or provident fund payout, who pass the affordability assessment the National Credit Act requires.
How much can I borrow?
Loans start from R2 000 and are based on about 10% of your expected lump sum, subject to an affordability assessment.
How is the loan repaid?
Once, when your payout lands. Early settlement is accepted.
What are the costs?
Fees and interest are charged as prescribed by the National Credit Act. Our costs page has a calculator with every fee explained, and your agreement shows the full cost before you sign.
Do you charge upfront fees?
No. Marlin Credit never charges upfront fees. Anyone asking for a fee before you receive a loan in our name is a fraudster.
What documents do I need?
Usually a copy of your ID, your fund benefit statement and your most recent payslip. Some payout types need extra documents; a consultant will confirm what your case needs.
Is Marlin Credit registered?
Yes. Marlin Credit is registered with the National Credit Regulator under NCRCP327.
How do I apply?
Apply online in about 3 minutes, WhatsApp us, or call our national call centre. A consultant will guide you through the rest.
