Cookie policy

What this website stores in your browser, why, and how to change your choices at any time.

Last updated:

This policy explains which cookies and similar browser storage the Marlin Credit website uses, why, and how you control them. It forms part of our privacy policy.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website places in your browser. Websites also use similar browser storage (“local storage” and “session storage”). We call all of these “cookies” in this policy.

  • Session cookies and storage last until you close your browser or tab. Persistent cookies stay until they expire or you delete them.
  • First-party cookies are set by the website you are visiting. Third-party cookies are set by another company's service used on that website.

2. Your choice comes first

The first time you visit, we ask what you allow. You can choose:

  • Strictly necessary (always on): the cookies this site needs to remember your choice and to make the application form work.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics, which helps us understand which pages are useful.
  • Advertising: the Meta Pixel, which measures whether our ads on Facebook and Instagram lead to enquiries.

“Accept all” and “Reject all” are equally easy, and “Settings” lets you choose analytics and advertising separately. Until you choose, and for any category you reject, those tools do not load at all. We ask you again after 180 days, or sooner if we change this cookie notice.

We also use Google's consent mode to pass your choice to Google: your analytics choice sets Google's analytics storage setting, and your advertising choice sets Google's advertising settings (advertising storage, advertising user data and ad personalisation) to “granted” or “denied”.

The analytics and advertising tools load only on marlincredit.co.za itself.

Google and Meta decide how their own cookies work and may change them. Their documentation explains more: Google Analytics cookie usage, how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Meta's cookies policy.

4. What we measure

If you allow analytics or advertising, the tools record the pages you visit and a few actions: tapping our phone number or WhatsApp link, using the cost calculator, sending step 1 of the application form, and finishing step 2. When you use the eligibility check, they also record the amount range you chose (never the type of payout). These records never include your name, contact details, ID number, documents or anything you type into the application form.

5. Changing your mind

You can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page, or here: .

If you withdraw a permission, we pass that on to the tools in that category straight away, and they don't load on your later visits. Cookies they set earlier stay in your browser until they expire, unless you delete them. You can delete cookies and site data, or block them, in your browser's settings. Google also offers a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics.

6. Other websites

Websites and services we link to, such as WhatsApp and the regulators' websites, set their own cookies under their own policies. We don't control those cookies.

7. Changes to this policy

We update this policy whenever the cookies we use change. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
